Circle of Competence
Serenity Now!
Attributes one may – or may not – be able to influence at the workplace:
- Strategic Vision (focus, clarity, resources)
- Brand strength (market presence)
- Complexity (systems and processes)
- Competitive Threats (including regulatory environment)
- Customer Centricity (thought and action)
- Industry Relevance (products and services)
- Work Culture (politics, empowerment)
- Reward and Recognition systems
- People Capabilities (business and functional)
- Opportunities to Learn and Grow (as an individual)
The ‘Serenity Prayer’ reminds us “to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

Truth be Told…
There are many ‘achievers’ that have climbed high up the ladder of success, mostly thanks to luck and (sometimes, undue) support from their managers. They stick at it anyway.
There are many senior leaders that do not have (all or some of) the requisite skills their job demands. They do it anyway.
There are many folks, in every industry, that have stumbled on to their chosen career-path accidentally. They show-up every day, and make the most of it anyway.
Don’t sell yourself short, waiting for the “ideal time”… Do it anyway.

Dreams or Goals?
- A home that does not need an aggressive dose of cleaning-up before the guests arrive
- Not just friends that are like family, but family that behaves like good friends do
- Having all that you need and want, but nothing more
- The opportunity to do work that you are passionate about, along with the reward and recognition you truly deserve
- The ability to live in the present, without worrying about what lies ahead
Impossible dreams, or goals worth aspiring for?
