Life is a Beach

I have just returned from a week-long holiday in Goa.  There are few places in India that I would want to visit again and again. Goa is one destination that I strive to go to at least once a year. Yes, it is that good!

I don’t know what I love most about Goa – its beaches or its narrow palm-tree-lined roads, its (s-l-o-w!) pace of life or the fact that you can hire a "motorcycle taxi" from just about any where, the (inexpensive and) delicious local cuisine or the wide variety of international fare on offer… Either way you look at it, it’s a great place to vacation.

This time, an added benefit for me was the fact that I got the opportunity to spend more time with my toddler who is now all of 14 months.  Unfortunately, work life in Mumbai is more hectic than I’d like it to be, and there is only so much (or so little) personal time one can afford.  So, the wife and I decided to take a vacation just to spend some quality time with our little one!  And it was quality time that we spent.

In the process, my daughter got a chance to experience life on a beach, made friends with a dog and cat in the resort, sipped on papaya juice all day, and got to know her dad from close quarters.

Of course, as the saying goes, the time you really need a vacation is when you’re just back from one.  And, I am already beginning to feel that pain…
