The Wonder Years

Pumpkin turns Five!

One day, it had to happen.  In this case, we even knew the exact day and date on which the event would occur.  But, for all its predictablity, it still kinda took us by surprise.

On 2nd Feb 2009, Pumpkin turned 5!

Babycenter’s milestone update reported that, throughout this year, we would encounter many interesting developments in the life of our newly-turned 5-year-old.  Before we know it, Pumpkin would be using past, present and future tenses accurately, show more interest in peers and adults outside of the family, tie her own shoelaces, and test the limits of her independence!

But, first there was the “big party” to organize…

As always, the birthday bash had taken several weeks of discussion and planning.  But, this time around, we were a bit older and a bit wiser.  The venue was still our house.  But, we had outsourced the decorations and activities to a service provider.

The balloons were put-up in no time.  The tattoo artist was a great hit with the kids.  The food and drinks were all kid-friendly, and the cake was simply delicious!  All in all, there were about 20-25 ‘little people’ who turned up, many accompanied by their respective escorts.

The two and a half hours passed by like a whirlwind, of course.  But, every thing more-or-less went off as planned.  (Except for Ma’s bout of asthma, which is a recurrent theme, now…)

Now that the “big event” was behind us, we realized, once more, that our little babydoll has grown up… and, how!
