{"id":864,"date":"2009-08-07T21:05:58","date_gmt":"2009-08-07T15:35:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/naveen.bachwani.com\/blog\/?p=864"},"modified":"2009-08-07T21:05:58","modified_gmt":"2009-08-07T15:35:58","slug":"seeing-is-believing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/naveen.bachwani.com\/greymatter\/2009\/08\/seeing-is-believing\/","title":{"rendered":"Seeing is Believing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in my college days (way back in the early &#8217;90s), suddenly the entire city seemed to have taken a fancy to the then-new phenomenon that was called &#8220;3D stereogram&#8221;!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Every one seemed to be showing off their private collections of these colorful pictures that you couldn&#8217;t &#8216;see&#8217; until you learned to really &#8216;see&#8217; the images embedded within it.\u00a0 It was like a new currency for popularity on campus, and the world was soon divided into those who got it and those who thought the others were simply faking it.<\/p>\n<p>Something made me recall those images, a few days ago, and I googled it to see if the wise old Internet had any.\u00a0 And, sure enough, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eyetricks.com\/3dstereo.htm\" target=\"_blank\">it did<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>If you haven&#8217;t seen one already, you simply must.\u00a0 It can be a lot of fun to be able to &#8216;see&#8217; a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eyetricks.com\/3dstereo126.htm\" target=\"_blank\">3D image staring you<\/a> from what seems like just noise.\u00a0 Here are some tips from the stereogram website, to help you get started&#8230;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<blockquote>\n<li>Pick a spot on the picture (the middle seems to work best) and just stare at it.<\/li>\n<li>Allow your eyes to relax, don&#8217;t just stare AT the image, try to stare THROUGH it. You&#8217;ll notice your eyes will go slightly out of focus.
