{"id":262,"date":"2005-11-08T02:55:52","date_gmt":"2005-11-08T02:55:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/naveen.bachwani.com\/blog\/2005\/11\/08\/a-new-delhi\/"},"modified":"2005-11-08T02:55:52","modified_gmt":"2005-11-08T02:55:52","slug":"a-new-delhi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/naveen.bachwani.com\/greymatter\/2005\/11\/a-new-delhi\/","title":{"rendered":"A New Delhi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s not often that one takes a vacation and visits <em>relatives<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There was a time when the family used to visit New Delhi every year\u2026 almost all our relatives were based there.\u00a0 But I hadn\u2019t been there in the past 8 years or so.\u00a0 And this trip was way overdue.\u00a0 So, this time, instead of setting off to an unseen land, we decided to head towards Delhi.<\/p>\n<p>Being out of town (and away from a Net connection for 8 days!) also explains why I haven\u2019t been able to post anything new on the blog, lately.\u00a0 Anyway, I got the opportunity to do a lot of things I have been meaning to do for a long long time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here are some highlights\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attended a family function where I met up with over 40 family members &#8211; some of them for the first time!<\/li>\n<li>Visited <em>Pallika Bazaar<\/em> and bought DVDs, instead of the VHS tapes I\u2019d picked up 8 years ago.<\/li>\n<li>Went to <em>Connaught Place<\/em> and saw how it has not changed much, except that it\u2019s now called &#8220;Rajiv Chowk&#8221;!<\/li>\n<li>Sampled a ride on the spanking new Singapore-style <em>Delhi Metro<\/em> (It is simply awesome!)<\/li>\n<li>Visited the <em>Lotus Temple<\/em> and saw how it has become a picnic ground for all and sundry.<\/li>\n<li>Went for a drive to <em>Gurgaon<\/em> to see its shining new malls and experience its yuppie development.<\/li>\n<li>Met some of my wife\u2019s school friends and saw the house she grew up in.<\/li>\n<li>Spent quality time with my daughter for 7 days and 7 nights &#8211; something work does not permit me much of.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All in all, it was an eventful week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There was a time when the family used to visit New Delhi every year&#8230; almost all our relatives were based there.
