The GreyMatter blog now sports more than 280 posts since March of 2003, and sometimes, relevant stuff can be buried deep inside the chronological hierarchy. With this post, I start a new practice of occassionally resurrecting select posts from the past, and bringing it back to Life.
In Oct 2008, I blogged about a search engine that was “Better than Google” :
There really is a way to make things better, while you continue using Google for all your web-search needs. It’s called Earthle and it’s the only “Energy Saving Google Custom Search Engine” you’ll need for a long time!
Today, I also add an update to it. Blackle.com achieves the same result with an even blacker (and improved) interface:
Blackle saves energy because the screen is predominantly black… We believe that there is value in the concept because even if the energy savings are small, they all add up. Secondly we feel that seeing Blackle every time we load our web browser reminds us that we need to keep taking small steps to save energy.
Read all about it, or simply starting using it by making it your default.
